Program Activities

Come and explore our camp days!

Father's Day

On this eventful day, campers enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by volunteer buddies. They played bowling and baseball, received important safety tips from special guest McGruff and his police handler, danced with joy, played lively rounds of bingo, and warmly welcomed a new member. It was a day filled with fun, camaraderie, and memorable moments.

Cinco de Mayo

The day was a whirlwind of fun and culture. The St. Stephen Hispanic Choir's donated pinata provided a lively challenge, accompanied by their captivating song and guitar music. Dancing brought a dynamic energy as camp members and volunteers moved freely, while Oaxaca Mexican Cuisine's buffet treated everyone to amazing flavors. The 'Macarena' dance added to the festivities, followed by Mexican "Loteria" Bingo.

Easter Day & Earth Day

On this wonderful day, our camp members gathered in a Welcome Circle to discuss themes of hope, love, and salvation, as well as to watch an animated film celebrating Easter. We also focused on Earth's beauty by planting watermelon seeds. Engaging activities included an Easter crossword, table hockey, and Left-Right-Center with Easter eggs. A delightful spring lunch was served, and the ladies received beautifully donated Easter baskets, adding joy and warmth to our day.

Field Trip to Film Alley

On this exciting day, our camp members ventured to Film Alley for a special outing. The private party area provided a fun setting for unique bowling. Camp volunteers' generosity ensured drinks, snacks, and shoes. A delightful pizza lunch fueled engaging conversations around the table. This outing brought exercise, interaction, and a sense of familiarity to our members, making it a day of smiles and connections.

St Patrick's Day

This camp day was filled with Irish flair as Father Emmet shared a tale of St. Patrick, and we explored flag colors' meanings. Laughter echoed as we enjoyed Irish poems, toasts, and jokes. The day's highlight was an inventive 'Irish Obstacle Course', challenging minds and memories. The program concluded with an Irish blessing communicated through sign language, uniting us in a shared spirit.

Honoring the Military

On this special day, Sergeant 1st Class Richard Mercer joined the camp from Weatherford’s US Army Recruiting office. Camp members shared and cherished memories of their military service, both at home and abroad. Classic American fare, including hot dogs, beans, and chips, added to the nostalgic atmosphere. The event commenced with a blessing and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, uniting everyone in a profound sense of pride and respect for service members.

Mardi Gras

The day was a burst of color and energy. Camp members adorned themselves with lively beads and enjoyed colorful table decorations. Fun-filled videos of parades and music captivated the camp members, sparking discussions about the significance of Mardi Gras colors and the preparation for Easter during the season of Lent. Brookshire’s King Cake and gumbo, courtesy of Dementia in Perspective, enriched the experience. Balloons and crown-making added flair, while badminton brought friendly competition. It was a day of vibrancy, culture, and connection.
